Terra Transoderana

Despite many important German-Polish educational projects in the Brandenburg region and the Lubuskie Voivodeship, there is still a lack of continuous cross-border educational work on regional history. The respective narratives on both sides of the Oder River remain unknown to most residents of the border region. This hinders an understanding of one's neighbours and joint dialogue on history and identities. The main objective of the TERRA TRANSODERANA Laboratory project is the sustainable qualification and networking of institutional actors in universities, schools, and museums on both sides of the Oder as a basis for future German-Polish educational offerings on regional history. The transfer of historical knowledge and methodological and didactic know-how will enable this target group to develop high-quality German-Polish history formats in the future. The cross-border approach of our project is central, as it is precisely in cross-border educational work on regional history that the challenge to be addressed lies. The most important outputs are a variety of German-Polish training opportunities (study trips, workshops, conferences) for teachers and educators. Participants in the project not only acquire new skills, but also contribute to the expansion of German-Polish cooperation through committed partnerships, networking, the exchange of knowledge and experience, and access to new methods of historical education. The development of two educational formats for younger people (school pupils, students) can be adopted by schools and universities as a viable and attractive educational formats.
